BITS Shell

1.1.1

This specialized app will act as a file copier or download manager, seamlessly integrated in the Windows Explorer Shell context menu

File handling on Windows machines can be achieved in multiple ways, some more basic, some more intricate, and some quite intricate. Aside from manually copying and pasting files and folders using the clipboard and the keyboard or mouse controls, users can also rely on the BITS (Background Intelligent Transfer Service), which also offers such functionality. For instance, the Windows updates are being downloaded using this exact service.
With BITS, users will be able to achieve reliable file transfer, both via HTTP or local and networked files. Designed in order to offer better integration of the service, BITS Shell will offer users a seamlessly-integrated solution for handling file transfer through the use of “BITS jobs”.
One must be aware though, that BITS Shell will not be similar to dedicated file transfer managers, with respect to the speed of the file transfers, with the transfer speed being affected by the network load.
In order to establish the details of the files that are to be transferred, users can use the context-menu entry that will appear after the deployment of the app. This will allow them to either paste the selected files in the preferred directory – yielding a corresponding transfer job, or, list all the available BITS jobs.
