COM Port Stress Test

1.4.5 Build 303

Test the behavior of COM, RS232, and RS485 ports by simulating heavy activity with the help of this program aimed at software and hardware developers

COM Port Stress Test is a software utility whose purpose is to simulate a heavy load on your COM or RS232 port so that you know how your application can handle errors and how robust it proves to be under demanding circumstances.
Aimed particularly at developers intent on testing their software and hardware in harsh environments, the application generates a serial stream of data with random communication settings. To be more specific, you can see your software or hardware influenced by variables such as baudrate, data bits, flow control, stop bits, parity, RTS, and DTR.
Aside from that, it should be pointed out that the load value is configurable. The minimum and maximum write size can be indicated by the user, with the possibility of analyzing the in and our speed and bytes count for both ports.
And since we have touched upon the subject, it is worth bringing into discussion the fact that up to two ports can be tested simultaneously, including USB serial ports, virtual serial ports, and virtual serial port drivers.
Given the program’s nature and that it puts considerable stress on the system, users should be aware that crashes may occur, for which reason they are highly recommended to back up files that may be at risk.
