USB Detect & Launch

Execute custom scripts like opening programs as soon as USB flash drives are connected to the computer using this simple task automation tool

Users who are continuously keeping themselves busy with the computer are likely interested in software solutions that can automate actions. If you're one of these users, then you can take a look at USB Detect & Launch. It's a straightforward Windows utility that can execute scripts as soon as specific USB removable drives are inserted into the PC.
Although the program comes bundled with just a couple of settings, the way it works is not so intuitive. A bit of investigation into the developer's website should be able to shed some light on the matter, though.

Execute scripts when USB drives are connected to the computer

As far as the graphical interface is concerned, the software application has a plain-looking window with configuration settings displayed on the upper part. To get started, you can edit the list of USB volume labels that will be targeted by the tool. Any drives that are not included in this list are not taken into account for the task automation job.
In the following step, it's necessary to specify the scripts to be launched as soon as USB Detect & Launch detects the targeted USB flash drive. Any number of scripts can be added, and they will be executed sequentially. A button for validating the script is available too, so that you can make sure everything is working properly.

Configure timer and other program settings

When it comes to other program settings, you can modify the default delay time before the scripts are launched (in seconds, default is 10) and instruct the app to automatically start the timer and minimize to the systray when it is deployed.
Although the software project hasn't received improvements for a long time, it had no compatibility issues with the newest Windows edition in our tests. It carried out tasks without errors while remaining light on system resources usage. Too bad it's not intuitive for casual PC users.
