Tabbed Explorer
1.1.0.2A Windows Explorer with a twist: it allows you to open a new tab to browse folders on your computer instead of a new Explorer window.
Explorer is the built-in folder browser of Windows but it has a flaw that many users find difficult to oversee: it does not allow users to browse two folders from the same window. That is why many go to third party file management tools and use Explorer on rare occasions.
Having that in mind, the developers of Tabbed Explorer created an application that enhances the functionality of Windows Explorer by allowing users to open new tabs instead of new windows.
Aiming to make things as easy as possible, Tabbed Explorer is a portable application and does not require setup. Moreover, it replaces the default Windows Explorer. With the push of a button, you can import Explorer windows that are already opened, creating a new tab for each.
The list of tabs is displayed in the lower side of the Explorer window, as well as in the dedicated Tabs menu. Tabs are numbered and color coded, so that you can identify them quicker.
Tabbed Explorer is practically an improved version of Windows Explorer capable of working in a multi-panel mode. In other words, it unclutters the desktop by allowing users to open a single Explorer window to browse multiple folders, instead of a new window for every directory. The number of panels is unlimited, meaning you can open as many tabs as you want. Their order can be changed as you please.
Opening a new tab is easy and it can be done via the dedicated menu. It would come in handy to have associated shortcut key combinations for common actions, such as opening or closing a tab. On the bright side, you can create folder favorites too open them quickly or a list of directories to have at hand. As a plus, Tabbed Explorer can be configured to open the last tab session at launch or open a predefined set of tabs.
Tabbed Explorer is a nifty piece of software that makes Windows Explorer more appealing. However, its capabilities cannot be compared to that of a double-sided file manager, which is preferred by most users.
