Running Steam games and applications via third-party libraries such as BytexDigital.Steam, which offers wrappers for SteamKit libraries, can benefit from the simplification it manages to achieve at API level. Downloading Steam content such as apps and workshops is one intended purpose for such libraries.
SteamCLI was created specifically in order to offer users a dedicated client for the aforementioned BytexDigital.Steam .NET Core library, in order to help them download Steam applications and workshop items. Relying on a command-line interface user input, it works via a set of pre-defined commands and parameters.
Users will be able to achieve their preferred Steam downloads by inputting the corresponding commands and syntax, but each download must contain the user name, password, workshop or app name, as well as OS and IDs for the selected downloads.
The application offers users a dedicated option that checks the download target directory for existing files, which if are included in the download process and are up-to-date, are skipped. If newer versions are contained in the download, these will overwrite the said files.
Furthermore, in conjuncture with this option, users can also choose for the app to delete all files in the target directory that are not in the downloaded version.
