PixRenamer

2.0

An application that can rename pictures in bulk, with the added possibility to use a numbering system to keep track of them and avoid overwriting

If you’re using more than your mobile phone camera to take pictures, you most likely end up organizing them on the computer, for easier selection when they need to be processed. In case you want to thoroughly sort them, applications like PixRenamer let you make custom renaming rules, in a quick and easy process.

Simple interface quickly gets you up and running

Everything happens in one main window, with all features wrapped around a classic frame which makes things easy to identify and get acquainted with. Three panels make navigation easier, one letting you browse through folders, while the second enlists all files, and a preview generated in the last. The rest of the space is where rules are created.
The application can only work with pictures, with support that lets you load BMP, JPEG, GIF, and several more. Adding them is not done through conventional ways, like drag and drop or using any browse dialogs, since there’s a dedicated navigation pane built-in to pint out the target folder.

Different selection and renaming filters

PixRenamer selects all pictures in the target folder by default, and in case you don’t understand why selection is not possible, a prompt shows up to inform you how it can be done. Moving your attention to the settings panel, lets you manage several file filters, like format selection, all of a specific type, or manual selection.
Moreover, a dedicated field is there for you to specify a new name. In addition, you can configure an automatic numbering filter with options to customize length of numerical value, used characters, and more. There’s also the possibility to convert extension font to lowercase or uppercase.
Unfortunately, there’s no built-in preview panel, and neither the option to open pictures for preview, so you need to make sure you know which to rename. However, there is a panel that enlists files according to the new name, but this isn’t done in real time.

To end with

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that PixRenamer is a practical application which can help you quickly rename a bunch of files. Filter options let you select different types of images more efficiently, while renaming options can include numbering, and processing is instantly done.
