NVDA Sound Manager

2021.06

Gain better control over NVDA\'s volume adjustment features by toggling it higher and lower with the arrow keys using this extension

NVDA Sound Manager is an addon that enables users to include extra sound functionalists for NVDA speech application. More precisely, thanks to the tool, users can now adjust the volume without having to manually change it from the Windows default sound volume bar found in the System Tray.
Installing the extension can be done in the standard way via the dedicated section in the Preferences. Take note that for the addon to be fully functional, NVDA needs a restart, as indicated in the Add-ons Manager section. Functionality-wise, the extension can be configured to announce the volume changes and the app names when cycling. Both of these features can be toggled on and off from the Settings.
Getting started entails pressing the NVDA + Shift + V key combination and then using the standard arrows to increase or decrease the volume. The add-on specifies the percentage of the volume each time the arrows are pressed.
The extension uses two distinct sounds to let users know whether it is active or not. Therefore, a high beep entails it being active, whereas as a low beep means it is deactivated. In all fairness, this could be improved by changing the low and high beep with actual words that say active or not active.
