Mobile View Switcher

Find out if websites are optimized for mobiles with the help of this straightforward browser extension for Firefox, Chrome and Opera

If you own a website and want to quickly see how it looks like on mobile devicess, you can turn to Mobile View Switcher. This is an addon available for Firefox, Chrome and Opera, which instantly switches to mobile viewing mode, as the name suggests. It also comes in handy to check if if websites saved for later reading are well optimized for your smartphone.
Mobile View Switcher requires little to no configuration. It can be swiftly integrated with your browser after download, then activated and deactivated by just clicking its toolbar button. It has the mobile icon and can be found next to the address bar.

Find out if websites are optimized for mobiles or any other platforms

As soon as the addon is enabled (turns yellow), the current page's appearance immediately switches to mobile mode, without your intervention, so you don't have to refresh. The same rule applies the other way around (turns back to gray), when switching back to desktop mode. However, if you have other tabs opened, then it's necessary to reload the pages.
As previously mentioned, you don't have to configure any settings in order to get Mobile View Switcher working for most mobiles. Nevertheless, we should mention that the default user-agent string is set for iOS devices, so if you want to find out how pages are loaded properly on Android, Windows Phone or other mobile-specific OSes, then it's best to head over to the options panel and set more user agents (a simple copy-and-paste action is enough). This comes in handy for mobile developers, though, since it's not that practical for regular consumers. On the plus side, you can set any user agent, not just those available for mobiles only.

Practical browser addon for Firefox, Chrome and Opera

Unsurprisingly, Mobile View Switcher had no compatibility issues with the newest Firefox, Chrome and Opera edition or other addons in our tests. It even works with Firefox ESR 52, the last Firefox version that supports legacy addons and works on Windows XP and Vista. Besides Windows, it can be installed on Linux and Mac.
