Keyboard Lights

4.4

View the current status of your Num Lock, Caps Lock and Scroll Lock keys in the system tray area whenever they are pressed, with this lightweight utility

Some of the latest keyboard and notebook models no longer have indicators for the status of the Caps Lock, Num Lock and Scroll Lock keys, and some people prefer not to have to look away from their monitors even if their input devices are equipped with these indicators.
Keyboard Lights is a straightforward application that provides you with a solution to these issues, as it displays a virtual version of the classic keyboard lights in the system tray area whenever one of these keys is pressed.

View the status of your Caps Lock, Num Lock and Scroll Lock keys on your desktop

When it comes down to it, the application performs a very simple function, but one that many users are likely to find helpful. Whenever you press one of the keys mentioned above, a notification is displayed in the system tray area to let you know which of them are currently active.
However, it would have been great if you also had the option of checking their status at any time by clicking the program’s system tray icon.

Lightweight program that cannot be configured in any way

Unfortunately, it is not possible to specify how long the notification should be displayed or alter the dimensions, position, color and opacity of the window. Also, you cannot change the order of the indicators to one that you find to be more intuitive.
Furthermore, it would have been useful if some type of sound alerts could be triggered when activating or deactivating the lockable keys.

Simplistic utility that offers a very limited set of features

On the whole, Keyboard Lights is a straightforward application that provides an alternative to the classic keyboard lights that indicate the status of the Caps Lock, Num Lock and Scroll Lock keys. It is very easy to install and use, but it offers no advanced functions and cannot be configured in any way.
