EpubCheck

4.2.6

Command-line tool developed in Java to help you validate IDPF ePub files for various types of errors, catering to all types of users

EpubCheck is a command-line application designed to help you validate IDPF ePub files, in order to identify various types of errors, such as OCF container structure, OPF and OPS markup, and internal reference consistency.

Java-based program

There is no setup pack involved. As long as you have Java installed on your computer, you can call EpubCheck's process from a Command Prompt window by just typing a couple of lines.
There is also the possibility to save it to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort, provided that Java is installed.
An important aspect worth keeping in mind is that the Windows Registry and Start menu do not get updated with new entries, and no extra files are created on the disk, thus leaving no traces behind after its removal.

Easily validate ePub files

So, all you have to do is point out the path of an ePub file and press a key to start the automatic evaluation procedure; EpubCheck will immediately show any errors and warnings. There are no other notable options available here.

Evaluation and conclusion

There were no kind of issues in our tests, since the application did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. It has a good response time and carries out scan jobs rapidly while using low CPU and RAM. All in all, EpubCheck serves its purpose and can be easily used by anyone.
