DavMail Gateway

6.0.0 Build 3375

Use your favorite mail clients with an Exchange server by connecting through a gateway, with this handy Java-based software utility

If you want to connect to a Microsoft Exchange server but are looking to avoid Outlook, you might be interested in an application that allows you to use any popular mail client.
DavMail Gateway is a program designed to help you create this connection, as it provides standard compliant protocols for various operations, making it possible to use mail clients that would not be compatible otherwise.

Configure the gateway

After it is launched, the application is minimized to the system tray and begins listening on the preset ports.
You can choose the desired exchange protocol, as the program supports WebDav and EWS. Optionally, you can have the application select the correct one automatically.
Various other parameters can be altered, such as the exchange server's URL and the local ports that need to be configured.

Setup proxy and configure certificates

The application can also connect to the server via a proxy, using the system settings or user-defined parameters.
Additionally, the program supports encryption and allows you to configure the server and client certificates.
Also, you can specify where the log file should be saved and define the logging levels.

Not user-friendly and lacks adequate documentation

DavMail Gateway offers a comprehensive set of features and, in the hands of experienced users, can be put to good use. However, this is not an application suitable for novices, as configuring it and learning what its functions accomplish can be an exhausting task.
Additionally, the available documentation is far from being sufficient. While it does provide instructions for many operations, they are not particularly novice-friendly. As a result, the program could prove to be very frustrating for some users.
All in all, DavMail Gateway is a useful application that can help you connect to Microsoft Exchange servers with various mail clients, not just Microsoft Outlook. It offers a broad range of features and is fully configurable, but lacks documentation and is not user-friendly.
