Bitwarden

The desktop version of the popular password manager, allowing you to store login data, credit and identity card information, and notes in a secure vault

Security experts recommend you to use different passwords for all the websites you log in to. What's more, they say it would be best if you randomly generated a password for every account you own. However, remembering complicated passwords is more and more difficult as their number grows, if not impossible. That is the main reason why you might want to opt for a password manager such as Bitwarden.

A desktop client for the Bitwarden password manager

The Bitwarden desktop client was released after the password manager was only available as a browser extension and a web app on Windows for a significant amount of time. The purpose of the desktop application is to offer the same core functionality as the web-based Bitwarden app at local level.
If you already are a Bitwarden user, you can log in to the desktop application with your credentials and start syncing your online vault with the local one. Otherwise, you must take the time to create an account from within the application. There is no need to navigate to the Bitwarden website to do so.

Save login and card data, or notes to your secure vault

The main window is intelligently split into three different panels. The first enables you to navigate between all the items in your secure vault, access the Favorites section, and manage folders that are meant to keep all the data organized.
Bitwarden's vault can save login information for any website (usernames and passwords), as well as information on credit and identity cards, or private notes you want to keep away from prying eyes. Every item can store attachments and custom fields of your choice.

Few extra options in comparison to its web-based counterpart

Bitwarden makes a good password manager, but it does not bring too much novelty to the table if we are to compare it to the web-based application. Perhaps the most obvious addition is the password generator, which enables you to create secure passwords both quickly and easily. On the other hand, there are features in the web-based application that are not available in the desktop version, such as data collections, importing and exporting, and options to deauthorize sessions, purge the vault, or delete the account.
