EarthDesk is an interesting application for displaying pictures of our planet on your desktop with the current day and night visualization. Thanks to this program, you can watch on the screen of your monitor as day replaces night and vice versa. EarthDesk uses an interactive satellite map, replacing the planet image with a certain periodicity on the desktop. By the way, you can adjust the update frequency yourself - from 1 minute to 15 minutes.
Accordingly, the bright places on the map - this is where the day is, and the dark - the night. In the settings, the satellite map can be replaced with a political, relief or natural one, as you wish. Also, it is possible to remove the night view of the map (the whole Earth will be visible), adjust the moonlight (real, full, variable) and position the center of the map.
For positioning, you first need to select a city in the "Locations" section (more than 10,000 places are available) - here, besides everything, you will also find out the exact coordinates of the selected city. And then in the "Display" section, go to the "Centering" tab and mark one of the selected cities - the map on the desktop will shift.
What else is worth noting is the ability to display the cloud cover of the planet almost online, which gives the map an even more realistic look, allowing you to track such phenomena as storms and volcanic eruptions.
