Wire

With so many messaging apps on the market, it’s difficult to introduce a new one unless it already has all the features that users might need. This why Wire is marketed as an open source solution that offers end to end encryption, meaning that it can do everything that all the rest already have.
 
Interestingly enough, some of the features present in Wire for a long time are only now arriving for the competitors. For example, Wire comes with full support for GIFs, which is a very sought after feature.
