Playing Sopcast links if not something that anyone can do without the proper application, and many podcasts use this system. Being able to take the sop:// links and making them available to users is an interesting tool to have.
The application will basically create a local http:// stream than can then be played by your favorite player. This means that you don’t need particular media player, just one that can handle simple HTTP links. Furthermore, you also get aspect ratio stretching with your player, which is a nice bonus to have.
Just clicking on a sop:// link will make the application pop up, so it’s not really a complicated process.
