SMS Backup & Restore

One of the biggest problems when migrating from your old to the new phone is that you’ll probably lose all of the call logs and the SMS messages. The only way to preserve them is to make a backup and restore it on the new phone, providing that it’s compatible.
 
It’s a good idea to make a backup anyway, even if you’re not changing phones. Devices can crash, or they can be flashed with a new version of the OS, and you might need that data.
 
SMS Backup & Restore is pretty simple to use. Everything is saved in XML format, you can choose to use cloud storage, the backup is independent of the Android version, and it’s even possible to send the backup to another phone with Wi-fi direct.
