Most YouTube applications make use of the YouTube API, which means that the frontend is not going to be very different from the original app. With the NewPipe app, things are very different because it’s written from scratch and it doesn’t use the official API; only the information from the website is used to parse the videos.
There are several advantages to having an application built from scratch. For one, users don’t need to have for it to work and they don’t need a YouTube account.
The application allows users to search for videos, display general information about a video, select what streaming player to use, download video or audio, open the video in Kodi, search YouTube in a specific language, watch age restricted materials, and much more.
To top it all off, this application is completely free, with no ad, and open source.
