Chromecast is a powerful little toy from Google that transforms any TV with an HDMI port into a smart TV. There are many ways of sending multimedia content to a Chromecast device, but not all of them have the features that are found in LocalCast.

LocalCast for Chromecast comes with pretty much anything the user wants, including the ability to stream local videos with subtitles, music, and pictures. The only problem that even if containers such as MP4 or MKV are recognized, it doesn’t have support for all the codecs that are used with now.

Users can make mixed playlists from different content, the app has SMB access, it’s possible to send PDF files to the TV, and people can even listen on the phone the content that’s being played through Chromecast.
