We usually take for granted the way that the buttons are used in Android, but it’s not something set in stone. Applications can be used to remaps the buttons to the users’ liking, and this is exactly what the Button Mapper app does.

All of the regular buttons can be changed, including volume, power, home, and so on. Furthermore, other actions can be linked to the buttons with the use of single presses, double taps, and long presses. The fact that even the hardware buttons can be mapped is a reason enough to give it a try.

For most of the features, users don’t need root access to the device, but there are some exceptions. For example, making the volume buttons to work when the screen is off will require root access.
