One of the issues on Android devices is that users can’t open multiple instances of the same application. For example, you can’t open two different Chrome instances, and you can’t have two different version of Whatsapp.
There are some scenarios where it would be useful to have multiple instances of the same app. For example, you might want to have two different versions, or you might want to use different logins.
Since the cloned version of the application doesn’t have the same rights and the same access to the operating systems, it will remain in place, and it should be easier to maintain. It’s also possible to change the name or the icon since it’s no longer controlled by the OS.
